Why PNG → JPG
JPG is much smaller than PNG for photographic content and opens on everything. Transparent areas are filled with white.
When a PNG holds a photograph rather than a logo, JPG is almost always the better delivery format: the file can be a fraction of the size with no visible difference. The one trade-off is transparency — JPEG has no alpha channel, so any see-through areas are filled with a solid background (white by default). For photos, screenshots without transparency, and email attachments, that's exactly what you want.
